I was well into my 20s and still experimenting with technique and style before beginning my formal training at the University of Missouri-Columbia where I received a MA in Photojournalism. Thereafter, I honed my technical skills at five daily newspapers, five days a week for 14 years as a phototojournalist covering all aspects of the news business. Periodically, I completed assignments for The Associated Press and the New York Times, and national magazines such as TIME, Newsweek, US News and World Report, People, Stern, and many others through Black Star, a prominent photo agency in New York. There was no better way to “cut one’s teeth” than by shooting daily.
Today, this foundation built upon over 20 years of experience allows me to be as comfortable in the studio as on location. I love working with all people from around the globe and having a chance to tell their stories through my photographs.
Corporate clients have included Microsoft, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Providence Health Services, T-Mobile, Weber Shandwick, Edelman, Waggener Edstrom, Corbis, and many others.
Whether I’m shooting classic black and white portraiture for families, or head shots for models, executives, or burgeoning artists, each day my goal is to inspire an authentic portrait that surprises, brings joy to a client’s face, and celebrates their unique personality.
I’m based in West Seattle and my studio is five blocks from the beach and beautiful Lincoln Park–a constant source of inspiration.
